This is a luxury edition with Gouda cheese and a panko crumb coating, making them extra crispy.
A super delightful snack, starter, or side dish served with, for example, a tomato sauce or aioli.

Mozzarella sticks
"GOUDA"? VERSION of the delightful mozzarella sticks, which are a surefire hit at your fast-food restaurant. This is a luxury version with gouda cheese and a panko breading, making them extra crispy.
Ingredients
- 450 gram cheese Gouda block cheese
- 4 pcs. Egg M/L
- 150 gram Panko breadcrumbs
- 50 gram Wheat Flour
- 3 gram Herbes de Provence can be replaced with any dried herb you prefer!
- 45 gram Parmesan Parmigiano-Reggiano
- 2 gram Cayenne Pepper
- Salt and Pepper
- 644 gram Oil Neutral oil such as: Canola, sunflower, avocado, or peanut oil
Instructions
- Cut the cheese into sticks (approx. 1 cm thickness)
- Whisk eggs in a bowl
- Mix panko with Herbs de Provence, grated Parmesan, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in another bowl.
- Coat all cheese sticks in flour.
- Then coat the cheese sticks in the eggs and subsequently in the panko mixture.
- Make sure the cheese sticks are fully covered!
- Do this with all the cheese sticks and place them on a plate.
- Then double coat.
- Repeat the coating in the eggs and panko mixture (not in the flour)
- Freeze the sticks for at least 2 hours.
- Heat the oil to approx. 180 degrees Celsius (356 degrees Fahrenheit) (or test with a wooden spoon in the oil)
- When the oil is ready, place 3-4 sticks in the oil (do not overcrowd the pot)
- Fry until golden brown.
- Drain the oil on a piece of paper towel.
- Serve with, for example, aioli and tomato sauce.
